Our fashion-icon tour leader has two long-standing passions: photography and The Bullet. But above all, he’s in love with India.
The Land of the Maharajas is our mystical journey into the heart of Rajasthan but redesigned. A change of scenery is a sure bet on this beautiful tour! A great introduction to authentic Rajasthan, the new itinerary covers almost 1120 miles and gives you the chance to discover a fascinating mixture of traditional villages, secret tracks, majestic palaces and forts, enriching experiences with locals and unforgettable scenes of everyday life. We'll explore Pushkar, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bundi, Jaipur.... cities that will blow you away with their rich history and culture. This is more than your average motorcycle tour, it's an intense Indian experience guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.
Your first day is all about a smooth arrival in Delhi: you’re met at the airport and transferred to the hotel in the city centre. Your room is available from noon onwards. You have two options: you can stay at the hotel and rest after the flight or go out and explore India’s bustling capital.
We begin our journey in the direction of Shekhawati, a region famous for its majestic Haveli. First, we leave Delhi by private vehicle to join the starting point and our motorcycles. We then enter the "Land of Kings" by small country roads, offering us great sights of the rural nature from our first rounds of wheels.
We cross the heart of Shekhawati during the first hour and stop at Nawalgarh. We then head south along a string of ancient forts, towards the salt lake of Sambhar, and take small countryside roads to reach the holy city of Pushkar.
We ride through the slight hills surrounding us via quiet country roads, leading us to the Marwar. We finally reach the enchanting region of the Bishnoi and Jat tribes. We get to one of the most mythical cities of the region, Jodhpur.
In the morning, we cross Jodhpur’s hustling and bustling old town, dominated by the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, an eagle’s nest overlooking the city. Then, we go south towards the ancient Mewar kingdom. After lunch, we make our way on pretty, rural roads, passing several hamlets and villages, home to the photogenic Rabari tribe.
Today we tackle the winding roads of the Aravallis range. We visit the fortress of Kumbhalgarh, which has the second-longest wall in the world (33 miles) after the Great Wall of China. We arrive in Udaipur, the former Rajput capital of Mewar, built around several lakes.
Today we have the opportunity to visit Udaipur on foot, and to rest. In the late afternoon, we take a short and easy ride to Sajjangarh Palace (Monsoon Palace).
After getting out of the Venice of India, our southernmost point of the trip, we cross pretty landscapes, inhabited by simple peasant communities. We ride towards Chittorgarh, the ancient historic capital of the Mewar Kingdom. We visit the extraordinary fortress city and we cross another rural region with rocky reliefs towards the east of the Aravallis.
Today we ride to Bundi, a small off-the-beaten-track town with a charming Indian atmosphere. Its fort and palace are famous for their murals, considered the finest in Rajasthan. We set off on a perfect highway; beautiful, smooth and clean roads, without traffic.
We set off on our motorcycles towards Ranthambore National Park. But before that, we will have to endure inevitable worn-out roads on the first third of the stage. In the late afternoon, we take a jeep safari in the middle of crocodiles, birds, sambars, monkeys, and of course the star of the area, the tiger, that we may have the chance to see.
We leave Ranthambore in the morning and head to the mythical "pink city": Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Here you need a little time to wander and eventually, do a little shopping (the city is known for its many forms of crafts). We ride today mainly on "highways", fast, in pretty good condition, without too much traffic, to reach Jaipur in the middle of the afternoon.
It's our last day on the bikes. In the morning, we visit the impressive Amber Fort, located a few miles north of Jaipur: a fantastic way to end this tour! Then, we take our Royal Enfields on the narrow, sometimes mountainous roads to Alwar Fort.
We travel back to Delhi in a private vehicle. One or two rooms are booked for you to freshen up before your flight back home.
You're taken to Agra from New Delhi in a private vehicle with driver. During 2 or 3 days, visit the fabulous Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and the Red Fort of Agra.
2 days to discover the sacred town of Varanasi. An English-speaking guide shows you around the Buddhist city of Sarnath, one of the four holy Buddhist cities. As the sunsets, you take a stroll along the Varanasi ghats and attend Aarti, a daily worship ritual. On the second day, you take a boat tour at sunrise, visit the University, Bharat Mata Mandir and the rest of the city.
