It would be nice to have a more international group of travellers. For tours ending in Chennai, it's a must to visit the Royal Enfield plant
We absolutely loved our trip through Kerala and Tamil Nadu on the Spices Route. With all of our luggage strapped to our bikes, a brilliant tour leader in Dinesh and an excellent RE trained mechanic in Atul, completed with myself and my wife, our little party of four bikes could not have had a better rambling adventure. Some sections of gnarly off road, sweeping switchbacks climbing from searing 100oF heat on the plains up to the balmy coolness of the Nilgiri mountains. Riding through the green velvety perfection of tea plantations, whilst stopping for fresh coconut water at the little roadsides - delightful. Cannot praise our guide and mechanic enough. We were immersed into the countryside, seeing very few westerners and getting what we hope was a truly authentic experience. Discussion led us to think on improvements, one of which could be to do the ride in the reverse direction. We undertook a nearly thousand mile journey clockwise. Towards the end we did some really long days on the plains in the heat and maybe getting them out of the way at the start, so that you end in the back waters with a last short day might be a lovely way to end it. It would not affect the experience of the riding. Just a thought. Regardless we had a fabulous time.
Our on ground experience was exceptional Due to Deepak But the admin needs work To make me feel a little more cared for
One of the best things I have ever done in 37 years of my life, thanks also to Deepak! Try to do better with the administration, needs to be better, less people dealing with the client!
I think there is still a little way to go to make the non-French speakers more welcome, but this trip was a big step forward in my view from my previous trip.
Excellent trip, my second time with Vintage Rides. Will definitely travel with VR again.
great tour, more than met my expectations
I enjoyed my trip and finding out about Indian culture. However, I did get a dose of Indian belly on the last 2 days which spoiled it a bit. My next trip will be a bit closer to home as I did not enjoy the long flights to and fromGoa.
I thought the trip was great and it exceeded my expectations. I would have liked a little more off road riding but understand some roads have been paved since the last tour! Our guide made up for this whenever he could by adapting our route to visit beach for example. evening would have been better for me if more of a mixed group but understand this is french company and majority of riders are naturally french!
I thought Vineet was a great asset to have on the tour. He was very friendly and looked after us well alongside Harsh. I also thought Mari was great too.
Really enjoyed the trip per my feedback. For me a little more down time might have come in handy in the heat but that's purely a personal thing and no reflection on the tour offered by Vintage Rides. Good chance we will be back at some point.
It was great. However it would be good to know what clients want in advance. We had a mixed group some wanting off road, some not wanting rough stuff. This made it difficult for the leader. Also some more clarity about roads in the blurb would be good.
Yes, I loved my trip. Great organisation, great team both in the office and on the tour. We did longer days riding than expected which I enjoyed but others on the tour felt they needed some down time.
I had a great time and really enjoyed the trip. My only comment is that the Intermediate level required more experience than the tour description suggested. this was fine for me but mean that the route had to be altered to accommodate the needs of others in our group. Maybe the tour description should explain a bit more about the expectations of riders at Intermediate level and note that there will be challenging sections to ride.
Australians need beer at the end of a hard day, before the boots come off. I need fresh, green food. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience.
Trip was great BUT we did less riding than we anticipated - about 150km less as we ended up doing about 1150 and not 1300 as per itinerary. This was due to three factors - A day at Hampi when we never rode at all. A revised hotel which meant less distance. And dropping bikes off at a railway station rather than riding back to Panaji. As I’d gone for the riding I did feel a bit disappointed with this reduced distance covered (a bit over 10%). I obviously understand itineraries can change a little, but I think three separate things combined did result in too little riding.
