Setting off from Nice, you’ll discover the Italian Alps on high-altitude tracks all the way to Lake Annecy. This classic motorcycle adventure is perfect for intermediate riders who can’t wait to progress on loose ground either following our guide or using the GPS navigation device provided. You’ll ride from highlands to high mountains on remarkable tracks, passing through the regional parks of Liguria, Piedmont and Savoy. You’ll get the chance to sample the delights of Italian cuisine in charming, remote villages with characteristic slate-roofed houses. As evening falls, expect a well-deserved rest in exceptional natural settings at more than 2,000m altitude thanks to our portable glamping site. Our chef will prepare delicious meals that we’ll eat around the campfire and we’ll sleep beneath the stars in the comfort of our luxury, heated tents.
We set off in the morning and say goodbye to Nice and the Mediterranean and head in search of back country trails. We hit our first tracks after only a few miles of tarmac and soon discover the Alpi Liguri Natural Park.
We push towards Demonte on paths that wind through conifer forests in the heart of the Alpi Marittime Natural Park. We begin our ascent towards the high mountain pastures through Arma Valley, where we take a break at Lou Stau and sample numerous Italian dishes.
After sleeping to the dulcet sounds of the river, we set off again in search of higher altitudes on the Strada dei Cannoni, a rocky track riddled with plenty of dents. After tackling the challenging road for an hour or so, we begin our descent towards Becetto where we enjoy a delicious traditional lunch.
We continue our ascent northwards into the wooded mountains to the west of Pinerolo on paths peppered with asphalt until we reach Fenestrelle fort. This colossal eighteenth-century fortress gives us time to take a break before tackling the Strada dell’Assietta.
We begin our first day in France on the tracks around Mont Cenis Lake, taking in the amazing views. After having reached the Maurienne Valley along the tracks of Col de la Met, we prepare our ascent to Col de l’Iseran, the highest Alpine road at 2,770 m.
Today we complete our adventure on picturesque roads and forest paths, passing through Beaufort. We arrive at Martine’s and enjoy a rich Savoyard meal in the village of Cohennoz. We enjoy one last rocky trail, this time on the famous "Route de la Soif".
