Yamaha has had quite an original marketing idea: A smartphone app which transcribes the sounds of your motorcycle into words. With 10,000 listed sentences, one can almost imagine that bike fanatics will finally realize their fantasy of having a passionate relationship with their bike.
It's very simple: launch the app, start your motorcycle, hit the record button and listen to your machine talk. Depending on the power, resonance and other factors that only the God of motorcycles can master, the app will let you know how your motorcycle feels. It will whisper words such as "Let's go", "I need gas" or "Riding is a pleasure for me".
Just like St. Thomas, the Vintage Rides team attempted to talk with their Royal Enfields to best judge this great invention. And it turns out that British bikes are not as friendly as they are stylish. Always in a hurry, moody or simply too demanding, we finally think that sometimes the language barrier should not be overstepped. Especially when one knows the beautiful song of a Bullet... no need to understand it!
Without surprises, the Rev Translator app is a fun but quickly tiring gadget. You will make some friends laugh or at least smile, but it will certainly be one of the first app you'll delete to get some extra space on your phone.
If you'd like to listen to our Royal Enfields talk, you can check out our motorcycle tours. If you'd like to download the application, you can do it here or search Rev Translator in your app store.
