The adventure commences! We head to the High Atlas Mountains on our Royal Enfields, with the city behind us and the peaks straight ahead. We can already admire impeccable views over the valley, before stopping to enjoy some typical Berber food. Then, a windy road leads us to Aït Benhaddou, the first stopover of our tour.
Our bikes purr as we cruise along the desert road. We take a break at Skoura Oasis, a lush haven of peace. Then, back on the road, we head towards the epic Dadès Gorge, well known among avid bikers for its incredible landscapes.
We make an early start and take the gorge road, which will not disappoint with its spectacular views. We stop off at an ancient city, Tinghir, where we visit the medina and its maze of alleys. Back on our bikes, we wend our way through Todgha Gorges –a real playground for bikers.
We leave our kasbah in the morning freshness of the mountains and cross an area of farmland. It is completely different from the lunar landscapes of the high peaks that we have seen until now. We meet local farmers, who are warm and welcoming.
We head back towards Marrakech and stop off at a unique place, where we are welcomed by a remarkable, committed man who has striven to create a living space that enhances the region and inhabitants’ work.
