Climb aboard your Royal Enfield for a 465 miles cruise through the Kathmandu Valley, the Himalayan foothills, and the wild Terai jungle. Bask in the eternal beauty of the Annapurna mountains and immerse yourself in Nepalese culture, a mix of Hinduism and Buddhism. The diverse itinerary covers UNESCO World Heritage listed temples, Chitwan National Park, and the city of Pokhara with its mesmerising panoramic view of the Himalayas. And of course there is the mythical Kathmandu: a bustling, fascinating, wonderous blend of age-old traditions and the modern world. This motorbike trip through Nepal is a powerful and thought-provoking experience, carrying you from village to village, through untamed nature and carefully nurtured paddy fields, giving you the opportunity to connect with the incredibly cheerful and welcoming people of Nepal.
You are greeted at the airport according to your flight time and transferred to Patan. You can take a stroll through the streets of Patan, known by locals as “the City of Beauty”.
On the first day of this motorcycle tour we head southwest from Kathmandu, where we truly begin to appreciate the beauty of rural Nepal. The winding roads carry us through traditional villages and terraced fields until we reach the Terai. This region contrasts nicely with the mountainous Himalayan landscapes.
Today will we join a guided safari deep into the lush wilderness, a truly wonderous experience offering sightings of one-horned rhinos, monkeys, crocodiles, and if we’re lucky, an unforgettable encounter with a Royal Bengal tiger, leopard or bear.
We head northwest, making our way out of the jungle along winding mountain roads to the village of Tansen. These roads are a real playground for our Royal Enfields!
The leg to Pokhara is beautiful, as the smooth road climbs up through the lush Aadhi Khola River valley. We arrive near Phewa Lake in the afternoon and enjoy a bit of relaxation. Nothing epitomizes Pokhara’s splendid natural beauty quite like the majestic Phewa Tal, Nepal’s second-biggest lake. On a clear day, the Annapurna mountains reflect on its calm waters, making it ideal for a boat trip or kayaking. A hike up to the Peace Pagoda offers breathtaking views of the lake and mountains in the background. If the Himalayas are the “roof of the world”, then Pokhara is its gateway. Overnight stay at the local hotel.
The short distance today allows us time to linger over the beauty of this region at the foothills of the Annapurnas, enjoying its captivating views without feeling rushed. We will follow a seldom-traveled ride road to the west of Pokhara, a hidden gem which boasts the most stunning scenic overlook in the region with the Great Himalayas serving as a backdrop.
A very nice riding day has us rejoining the superb ridge road as it leads slowly towards Kathmandu. We cross the city of Pokhara before treating ourselves with a nice break near Begnas lake, an oasis of calm and beauty.
We continue on towards Kathmandu and climb back in altitude for our final night, northwest of the capital. We continue to appreciate these transcendent encounters, windows into this culture and nature against the backdrop of rice fields and forests. We stay in a charming traditional house with splendid views of the valley.
After a hearty breakfast served on our guesthouse roof garden, we hit the road for our last day of riding. We follow a road which is similar to most leading to the capital: narrow and rough, but also quite beautiful. We cross a mountain pass and Shivapuri National Park before returning to the capital for lunch, where we will bid farewell to our trusty steel steeds. In the afternoon we take a trip to Durbar Square through the lively Thamel neighbourhood, famous for its bars, restaurants and live music. Overnight stay at the hotel.
We have a free day to visit Kathmandu. We can visit the Boudhanath stupa or the sacred site of Pashupatinath.
We will transport you to the airport in time for your flight, thus bringing to a close your exploration of the magical country of Nepal.
