Climb aboard your Royal Enfield for a 465 miles cruise through the Kathmandu Valley, the Himalayan foothills, and the wild Terai jungle. Admire the eternal beauty of the Annapurna mountains, and take time to understand Nepalese culture, a mix of Hinduism and Buddhism. The diverse itinerary covers Unesco World Heritage listed temples, Chitwan National Park, and then Pokhara, with its mesmerising panoramic view of the Himalayas. This motorbike trip in Nepal, a moving and thought-provoking experience, will take you from village to village, through paddy fields, to connect with the incredibly cheerful and welcoming people of Nepal. Not forgetting mythical Kathmandu: a heaving, fascinating, unique mixture of traditions and the modern age.

J1 / Arrive in Kathmandu - Patan

You are greeted at the airport according to your flight time and transferred to Patan. You can take a stroll through the streets of Patan, known by locals as “the city of beauty”.

J2 / Patan - Chitwan - 93/127 miles

On the first day of this motorcycle tour, we head southwest from Kathmandu, where we truly begin to appreciate rural Nepal. The roads wind through traditional villages and terraced fields until we reach the Terai. This region contrasts nicely with the mountainous Himalayan landscapes.

J3 / Chitwan

Today, we spend the day in the depths of lush nature. A guided safari will provide sightings of one-horned rhinos, monkeys, crocodiles, and if we’re lucky, an unforgettable encounter with a Royal Bengal tiger, leopard or bear.

J4 / Chitwan - Tansen - 115 miles

We head northwest, making our way out of the jungle up winding mountain roads to Tansen in the northwest. These roads are a real playground for our Royal Enfields!

J5 / Tansen - Pokhara - 90 miles

The leg to Pokhara is beautiful. The road is good and climbs up through the lush Aadhi Khola river’s valley. We arrive near Phewa Lake in the afternoon and can enjoy some free time. Overnight stay at the hotel. Nothing epitomizes Pokhara’s splendid natural beauty quite like the majestic Phewa Tal, Nepal’s second-biggest lake. On a clear day, the Annapurna mountains reflect on its calm waters, making it ideal for a boat trip or kayaking. A hike up to the Peace Pagoda offers breathtaking views of the lake and mountains in the background. If the Himalayas are the “roof of the world”, then Pokhara is its gateway.

J6 / Pokhara - Dhampus - 22 miles

A small stage today, which allows us to stay a little more in this beautiful region at the foothills of the Annapurnas and enjoy its captivating views and to make the most of it without rushing. The ridge road we take to the west of Pokhara, with little traffic, displays the most beautiful view and picture point, with the Great Himalayas as a backdrop.

J7 / Dhampus - Darechok - 96 miles

A very nice riding day which leads us slowly towards Kathmandu. We take again this superb ridge road, cross Pokhara, before treating ourselves with a nice break near Begnas lake, an oasis of calm and beauty.

J8 / Darechok - Nuwakot - 56 miles

We still ride towards Kathmandu and climb back in altitude for our last night, northwest of the capital. We continue to appreciate these ephemeral visions or various encounters in this setting of rice fields and forests. We stay in a charming traditional house with splendid views of the valley.

J9 / Nuwakot - Kathmandu - 43 miles

After a hearty breakfast served on our guesthouse roof garden, we hit the road for our last day of biking. We follow a narrow, damaged but beautiful road, pretty much like all roads leading to the capital. We cross a pass and the Shivapuri National Park before returning to the capital for lunch, where we bid farewell to our trusty steel steeds. In the afternoon, round trip to Durbar Square through the lively Thamel neighbourhood, which is famous for its bars, restaurants and live music! Overnight stay at the hotel.

J10 / Kathmandu

We have a free day to visit Kathmandu. We can visit the Boudhanath stupa or the sacred site of Pashupatinath.
